As soon as Billy took to the stage he was greeted with roaring applause from the audience with everyone really exited about the event. Billy introduced himself and started talking about the overall theme of the master class, which was about playing with musicians. He spoke about how important and how difficult it can be to really listen to what everyone else around you is playing and how you can fit your playing in with what they are doing.

For the first part of the show, Billy warmed up the audience by demonstrating his tremendous skill, precision and creativity with an interesting solo performance. To start off his performance, he decided to use not two, but four sticks to play with! With two sticks in each hand, he proceeded to wow an audience with things most did not even think possible.

Part two is where the show really picked up the pace as Billy teamed up with several of the Tech Music Schools teachers to put on an amazing performance. With some fantastic musical displays, the band showed everyone how important it is to be musical and how to work with each other. This was great as it gave Billy a chance to communicate to everyone the theme of the master class and how even a person with such refined skills as himself, still has to remember his role in the band.

Billy Cobham has always been a welcome guest at Drumtech especially as he is a patron of the school. As he was playing at Ronnie Scott’s for the next three evenings, it gave many more people a chance to see this fantastic musician in action.
