Mark Schulman came into Drumtech recently to give students a highly informative Master class. His past credits as a drummer include playing for Cher, Tina Turner, Velvet Revolver, and currently, Pink, as well as contributing to countless TV and Movie soundtracks including School Of Rock, Beverley Hills Cops. |

He contributes this to his "formula for success" which he shared with students during his two hour clinic. Mark is a great groover of a player, with great consistency and great power - so much power that students in the room were warned that ear plugs were a necessity prior to his performance. Mark entered the room, playing a impressive rhythm on what looked to be a shaker of some sort. Students soon realised that this mystery object was infact, a box of tic-tacs, before each being given a few by Mark himself as a gesture of good will. Students soon found out what a down to earth and genuinely nice guy he is as he shook students hand one by one, before getting up on the stage to perform a few numbers of his own that he’s played to previously including a Medley of songs from Cher, Pink, and Tina Turner, as well as a few compositions of his own, all played with great authority and drive. Mark then delivered an emotional talk about overcoming his battle with cancer earlier in his life to get to where is it now, and gave students tips on getting a head start from his experience, such as being patient, gathering 10 new contacts a day and asking for extended numbers, and taking whatever work you can get to build up experience. Mark then finished the clinic with one last song of his, which was made as a tribute to Beatles legend Ringo Starr. Mark then stayed behind to sign autographs and answer questions for students. A great Master class by one of the great session players out there at the moment. |
