To kick off the show, Rob and Paul performed some of their bands tracks which really impressed everyone with the unique sound and style of their music. Robs powerful and precise playing was apparent to everyone as it drove the music and sounded amazing with Pauls playing. With the combination of Robs acoustic drums, and Pauls electronic and pre-recorded sounds, they both showed everyone how creative and different some of their music can be.

With the combination of acoustic and electric music, Rob spoke about how he performs this music at a live gig. For a live situation, he said that he generally plays the music the same as he originally did on the studio track whereas many drummers play live gigs with many change from the studio tracks. He felt that for this type of music it was extremely important to be as precise as possible because there is a lot of pre-recoded audio involved and continually changing drum parts would be a huge problem for the music.

For Rob to play so precisely with the tracks, he uses click tracks for almost every song they perform. He explained how great he felt using click tracks can be for a gig as it helps ensure exact timing which is essential especially when pre-recorded sounds are involved too. For Rob to talk about such benefits of click tracks for gigs was really good as it gave everyone a better understanding of how to work with pre-recorded tracks in a live situation.

Overall this was a really fascinating master class as it gave everyone a better insight into not just some great musicians but a really fantastic sounding band.
